Together we can bring about an Indigenous 21st Century for all.

Restoring Native sovereignty and ensuring reparations for centuries of historical crimes is a massive challenge. But together, we can solve it. Join The Collective, our community of monthly givers, to ensure justice and restore rights and sovereignty to Indigenous peoples.

our Purpose

4 in 10 Americans think Indigenous peoples no longer exist. We're on a mission to change that.

collective action

We fight erasure by elevating the work of Indigenous activists and causes through our Artificial Intelligence research and online applications—such as working to eliminate the use of Native mascots.

Fight for equity and justice

arts and culture

We're working with change-makers to indigenize spaces previously dominated by colonization and change prevailing narratives about Natives through supporting Native artists, disruptors, and educators.

Build an Indigenous future

truth & justice scholarships

Through our partnership with Bold.org, we're building the foundations for truth and reconciliation through scholarships and grants for LGBTQ+ Native students pursuing higher education and technical training.

Where we work

Indigenizing the Globe

Red Road to DC
Along with over 100 sister organizations, we supported the journey of a totem pole across the United States to the lawn of the Capitol, as we demanded that Native rights be restored and respected by the US Government.

MMIWG2S Mural
We supported the work of Gregg Deal and his nationally-acclaimed Missing and Murdered Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit (MMIWG2S) mural in Colorado Springs. Gregg and we strive to bring attention to the epidemic of MMIWG2S.

Native Artificial Intellegence
Thanks to the generosity of supporters on Indigenous Peoples' Day in 2020, we're developed a machine learning algorithm that detects the violence and hostility of sports fans on social media based on whether or not a race-based mascot is used. We look forward to publishing our findings in 2022.

Change the Name
Since 2020, we've developed a technology-based approach to ending the use of Native race-based mascots in sports. Starting with the Washington Football team, we will not end until all 2,000+ mascots are retired!

International Awareness
The misappropriation and continued use of race-based mascots go beyond the USA. We've partnered with organizations around the globe to combat racism against Indigenous Peoples.

Covid-19 Relief
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided mutual-aid relief to affected Native American communities around the United States

today's Call To Action

Native Americans are #NotYourMascot

Collaboration is another core feature of The Woape Foundation; we work together with dozens of Native and non-Native partners on many initiatives—from reframing the narrative on Indigenous peoples and ending the use of Native mascots, to supporting the work of Native artists and scientists—ensuring a future of progress through the funding of education through reparations.

Evidence shows that Native mascots are harmful to Indigenous youth and perpetuate harm not only to Native communities but to progress on a host of societal issues which affect all people. Through our partnerships, we've developed a database where you can demand change to the 2,000+ schools and teams that still used race-based mascotry and imagery.

Demand Change

Collective members have supported over 27,000 Native peoples across North America to date.
